Glass Humidor – What Groomsmen Really Want

Giving groomsmen gifts is a traditional way of expressing (the groom’s or the couple’s) appreciation for the groomsmen and their effort in one’s wedding.

Wedding preparation is both fun and exciting, with a bit of anxiousness every now and then. You’re probably working on a long wedding to-do-list, making sure you don’t miss anything. As you do so, you will definitely come to this point in time – choosing your groomsmen’s gifts.

Now don’t let the hustle of the wedding preparation be an excuse to overlook this, and say “they’re my buddies anyway.” Remember, every detail of a wedding is special, including your groomsmen gifts. Give it as much attention (or even more) as with the other details for your wedding.

How important are Groomsmen gifts?

Giving out groomsmen gifts is one wedding tradition we hold dear, especially for the groom himself. Not only because the groomsmen are a close of his, but also because they would probably do more than being part of the wedding entourage.

Besides being escorts to the bridesmaids, the dashing groomsmen can also help out the ushers on the wedding day. And don’t forget that they’re also responsible for organizing the fun bachelor’s party! And of course, their presence is most likely required on your pre-wedding events such as the engagement party and rehearsals/dry-runs.

Remember, you don’t hire them to do all these (yes, they’re fun but they’re also lots of work). You invited them and they’re doing you a big favor, even if they’re your friends. So naturally, you say “thank you” by giving them little gifts as a token of appreciation.

How to choose your Groomsmen’s gifts?

Budget

For starters, try setting up a budget. There are so many gift ideas you can find and setting a budget not only narrows down your choices, but it also keeps you from buying real expensive ones, which are not necessary. You can also adjust your budget depending on how many groomsmen you have. If you have just a handful, say half a dozen, then you can probably spare a little more.

Fortunately, you can find a wide selection of gift ideas without the hefty price. They’re neat and special, and also quite inexpensive.

The “Actual” Gift

Whether you’re budget-conscious or not, the most important thing you should consider is the actual gift – what groomsmen really want. And what better question to ask when choosing groomsmen gifts!

If you’re buying them individual gifts, make sure it’s appropriate to the person. Match it with his interest or relate it to one of his hobbies. If you want to be sure with this one, ask somebody close to him. If you’re buying in uniform, it saves you  a lot of time (compare to buying individual gifts) plus, if you’re buying in wholesale (which is most likely), you may even get discounts.

“Personalize”

This is a great way to make your gift “extra” special, which works well for both individual and uniform gifts. You can find many wedding gift stores offering this service. You can engrave your groomsman’s name or monogrammed them on the back of a pocket knife, or on the cufflink, or fountain pen, and so on.

Here are some great Groomsmen gift ideas you can easily personalized:

Live Longer With Liquor Flasks

We enjoy an ice-cold beer while we watch baseball or football games. We drink a glass of fine wine for dinner. And, we sip on a brandy or scotch to close a deal, or to simply beckon the sandman. Liquor, it seems, is as much a part of our lives as our organizers or our swivel chairs. But did you know that drinking alcohol moderately is one of the most effective means to achieve good health? Studies show that a sip or two of red wine helps you keep your heart healthy, relieves stress, and heightens your senses. So when used responsibly, a liquor flask’s contents could actually lengthen your life!

Moderation? What’s That?
While chatting on the Internet or by the office water cooler, the term “liquor flask” will rarely be brought up. What is it? A liquor flask is a wide container with a flattened neck. People usually store alcoholic drinks in them. Although liquor flasks are often associated with heavy drinking, moderate drinkers who use them could actually live longer lives. According to medical researchers, “moderation” refers to one to three drinks each day. Keep in mind that using one sitting to guzzle a week’s worth of moderate drinking from your liquor flask negates the alcohol’s health benefits. Also, women should generally drink about 25% less than men, due to their physical make-up and smaller size.

Drinks vs. Food and Workouts
What will exercising daily, eating a low-salt, low-fat diet, and taking in prescription medication to lose weight give you? The answer is a 20-point reduction in blood pressure, or a 30-point decrease in cholesterol level. If all these sound like they entail a lot of work, that’s only because they truly do. A daily bottle of beer or a glass of wine, however, accomplishes the same effect!

Medical studies show that working hard to lower blood pressure or cholesterol levels has a lower effect on heart disease than moderate alcohol consumption. In fact, only stopping smoking is more effective! However, keep in mind that these medical findings about alcohol do not warrant trading in your treadmill for a recliner, or substituting fruits and vegetables with burgers and fries.

Drinking to Your Health
If it seems unbelievable that the contents of liquor flasks can benefit one’s health, consider that moderate drinkers of alcohol are often healthier and live longer than heavy drinkers or non-drinkers. In fact, moderate

alcohol consumption can help prevent diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, high blood pressure, hearing loss, poor memory, and even the common cold.

A survey throughout the United States showed that those who drank alcohol moderately were hospitalized significantly less for serious illnesses. Additionally, a 13-year British study of 12,000 male doctors revealed that moderate drinkers were the least at risk of death. Also, one Harvard study shows that moderate alcohol drinkers are about 20% to 30% less at risk of dying compared to those who never drink alcohol. Clearly, it pays to tip your liquor flask moderately!

Healthy Hearts, Healthier Bodies
Drinking alcohol moderately reduces your odds of dying from a heart attack. The Honolulu Heart Study learned that men who drank alcohol in moderation had a 49% lower rate of coronary heart disease. Also, one Harvard study involving 44,000 men showed that drinking alcohol moderately lowered these men’s risk of coronary disease by 37%.

Your heart, however, is not the only organ that gets to benefit if you drink a reasonable amount of alcohol from your liquor flask. Moderate drinking reduces your likelihood of suffering ailments, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, high blood pressure, memory loss, hearing loss, and even the common cold!

Many people have the notion that quitting alcohol consumption cold turkey is the healthiest choice. Believe it or not, however, drinking a little bit of Wild Turkey from your liquor flask could result in a healthier and longer life. So, here’s to life and to moderate drinking. Cheers!
